Three Barnegat jobs, with photos
On August 26, 2025, we cleaned gutters in Barnegat that were packed solid with pine needles. We cleared them by hand, then put a hose down every downspout until it ran clear. You can see the needles heaped up in the photos, then the clean gutter with the hose flushing it out.
We were back in Barnegat on September 5, 2025, for a soft wash house washing. The vinyl siding had green and grey algae and mildew streaking down the shaded side. Low pressure, cleaning solution, rinse. Same wall as the before and after on this page.
Same day, we washed the windows on the back of the house, working along them from a ladder. The photo here is a still from the video.
Pine needles on one side, bay air on the other
Barnegat gets it from both sides, with the Pine Barrens at its back and Barnegat Bay out front. Under the pines, needles fill the gutters and mat together in the downspouts. That's what we pulled out in August.
Shade does the rest. A north wall, or any wall that stays in the shade, grows the same streaks we washed off in September. Closer to the bay, the salt air hazes up the windows.
